CORE Recon began as a paper personality assessment from the 1980s and '90s. Filled out in three to five minutes, it gave a basic read on someone's personality and temperament. Military chaplains used it to help leaders understand their own effectiveness and gain insight into their soldiers in fast-moving environments.

the challenge

The strategy was proven. It came to us fully formed, but it was stuck on a piece of paper. It needed a brand, and a way to put those insights in leaders' hands at the moment they need them.

what we did

We rebranded the assessment as CORE Recon and developed an app that digitizes it, giving soldiers and leaders what we call “hip-pocket information.”

We designed the mark from the assessment's original shapes: the square, the circle, and the triangle. It reads a little like Pac-Man, but the idea is that who you are comes from the inside out. The circle at the center pushes out through the arrow.

We continue to build CORE Recon's training resources, marketing collateral, website, and communication strategy.

the result

CORE Recon has grown into multiple branches of the military and is now starting to make an impact in corporate America.

Who you are comes from the inside out.
